Frequently Asked Questions & more

How safe is my data?

It's our goal to keep your data as safe as possible! We only ever update your data when an action is run by a user. We don't ever modify your data for any other reason, and don't ever save / copy data from your database, other than metadata for logs which we display to you. In addition, we don't allow you to write any direct SQL queries against SQL databases, as this can lead to errors and data corruption.

Why do you need to connect to the database?

Connecting directly to your database allows you to see all your tables & collections, and quickly create actions that run against them. Connecting to the database makes this process easy because we can see all the tables in your database, and also run arbitrary queries against them. You can also access your data through API if there are highly sensitive datasources that you simply cannot connect to, but this is a much less streamlined experience.

What are the current limitations of EasyButton.io?

Currently we support connecting to Postgres, MySQL, and any databases that follow MySQL or Postgres APIs, as well as Firebase Cloud Firestore. We are working on adding support for Airtable and MongoDB, which are expected in the next few months. You can also use other types of datasources via the API connector, which provides support for a wide range of APIs, both internal & external.

How does EasyButton.io compare to Retool?

EasyButton was built as a lightweight tool that helps with automating support and operations tasks involving user data. We focus on actions, security, and tracking, rather than allowing full customization for building dashboards. Setting up a new EasyButton account takes 30-60 minutes and requires relatively minimal learning, vs. tools like Retool which have significant learning curves.

How does EasyButton.io compare to Zapier?

EasyButton allows you to build actions that can be triggered by you and your team, as opposed to Zapier, which is focussed more on building workflows that are triggered by external triggers.
